21st Sunday after Pentecost

Reformation Sunday

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is

not your own doing, it is the gift of God – not the result of works,

so that no one may boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9

You are invited to join us on Sunday for our 10:00 a.m. Worship Service in our sanctuary or with the broadcast on Facebook.  Our service will be a celebration of our history in the Reformed Tradition, told through our historical and contemporary creeds. (Romans 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21) The Chancel Choir will sing “We Lift Our Hearts to Thee.”  Hymns for the service include “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,” “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” “The Church’s One Foundation,” and “Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!”

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The Session of Mingus View Presbyterian Church has called for a meeting of the congregation TODAY, October 30, 2022, immediately following worship for the purpose of approving an item of business regarding the sale of property, electing new church officers, and receiving the 2023 Annual Budget for information.  All interested persons are invited to attend, even if you are not a voting member of the congregation.
  • Our Food Pantry continues to serve a large number of clients each week, so our shelves are usually pretty bare after Monday morning!  Anything extra you can buy when you go to the store will be greatly appreciated!
  • If you have spare card tables at home, the church would love to borrow them for the Yard Sale portion of this week’s activities.  Speak to Jerry Hammon if you can help.
  • From the Personnel Committee – Help Needed:  Both our pastor, Susan Goe, and our church treasurer, Beverly Williams, spend a great deal of their time on what might be termed “clerical” work, mostly computer related.  The Personnel Committee is interested in finding a person or persons who would like a small job helping them out.  If you’d like to know more, please speak to Marilyn Walker or Ceri Woodworth.
  • Greeters and hosts for Fellowship Hour are always needed.  Also, The Craft Fair Committee is asking you to sign up to bake for the Craft & Bake Sale November 4 & 5, and also to help work at the Craft Faire.
  • Tomorrow!  The Mission Team invites you to put on your best costume and participate in “Trunk or Treat” in the Mingus View parking lot on Halloween beginning at 5:00 p.m..  Bring your favorite treats and come out to meet the neighbors!
  • The Year of the Bible questions for the Week of October 30th are:
  • In what country is Ezekiel living when he receives his initial, amazing vision?
  • What two Old Testament figures does James point to as he insists that works must accompany faith?
