ANNOUNCEMENTS

Looking Ahead to Lent

The season of Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday on February 18th. A joint worship service will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (corner of Windsong and Long Look).

Our Lenten Bible Study will begin on Tuesday, February 24th, at 10:30 a.m. The topic is: “The Last Supper: Conversations That Led to the Cross” by Will Willimon. Willimon invites us to walk with Jesus along the road from Palm Sunday to the cross and listen again to the parables he told along the way. Books are available on the round table at the back of the sanctuary and cost $18.00 if you care to contribute to the cost.

  • The Hope Circle will meet on Wednesday, February 18th, at 10:00 a.m. Please read Lesson 6 and let Marilyn Walker know if you plan to attend.
  • Food Pantry suggestions for this week: Canned fruit, cereal, spaghetti sauces, pastas, boxed meals, canned chicken and canned tuna. Cash donations are also gratefully accepted. Thank you!
  • All of our items have been delivered to Mountain View Elementary School and again Stephanie is very appreciative. Children come to her on a daily basis for items we don’t usually think a nurse would be supplying. In the past, she and the staff have supplied them themselves. The children are hungry and they have accidents, so we have been easing some of that burden for the staff. So thank you for all your past help! The needs at this time are: girls’ shirts – sizes 6 – 10, tennis shoes – sizes kids 13 – 5, small water bottles, Goldfish, chips, sweatpants and leggings – sizes 6 – 8, and juice boxes. Thanks for your devotion to this mission.

Also the school wanted us to know that March 6th is Read Across America Day, a day that is set aside to honor Dr. Seuss. They are inviting us as individuals to come read preselected books to different classrooms. You can read to one classroom or multiple classrooms. You can come and read ALL day! We have some terrific readers in this congregation, so don’t be afraid to volunteer. If you are interested in being a reader, get in touch with Ceri Woodworth.
