1st Sunday of Advent

The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

Jeremiah 33:14

You are invited to join us on Sunday for our 10:00 a.m. worship service either in person or on YouTube Live via our Facebook page as we begin our season of Advent, anticipating the birth of our Lord. The title of Susan Goe’s sermon is “The Promise of Hope,” (Psalm 25:1-10; Jeremiah 33:14-16; Luke 21:25-36.) The choir anthem will be “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated. Hymns for the day include: “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates” “For the Bread Which You Have Broken,” and “My Hope is Built On Nothing Less.”

  • Deadline Next Sunday!! Our sister church in Ganado will once again this year be able to have their Camp Christmas! It’s been several years and we’re thrilled to be able to help out with gifts once again. Needed items are personal care products, warm coats, gloves, scarves, blankets, etc. THANK YOU!
  • There will be a Blue Christmas Service on Saturday, December 21st at 3:00 p.m. at a location to be announce soon. This is a service of hope and healing as we acknowledge the “blue” feelings during the cheer of Christmas.  All are invited.
  • Christmas Eve – Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Tuesday, December 24th, will begin at 5:00 p.m.
  • The Christmas Eve tradition continues! Bob and Jone Rongstad invite you to their home following the Christmas Eve service at Mingus View. No one like to be alone on Christmas Eve so plan to join us and our church family for chili, potato soup, and lots of other goodies. We promise a great time of fellowship as we celebrate Christmas together. Please let us know if you will be coming so we know how many to expect. A sign-up sheet is on the round table.
  • This week’s Food Pantry suggestions include: Canned chicken, tuna, Spam, canned vegetable & fruits, cereal, pastas, Ramen, box meals, beans, rice, soups, diced tomatoes, and jelly. Of course, we appreciate any donations! Thank you!
  • Mingus View, you are wonderful partners with Mountain View Elementary school. Stephanie Clinton, the school nurse, is so appreciative. Her budget was cut this year so our donations are that much more appreciated! We pretty much had her set to start the year. Checking in with her recently, she said they can always use bandaids and, as usual, sweat pants size 6-8. She said both boys and girls wear the sweat pants. Underwear, basically boys 6-8 and girls 6-8. The small water bottles and crackers are hot items and great to have on hand. Many come without breakfast. Thank you so much for your support! You can put your donations in the school bus (thanks to Sue Von Hagel) in the narthex.
