Baptism of the Lord
“You are my son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”
Luke 3:22
You are invited to join us on Sunday for our 10:00 a.m. worship service either in person or on YouTube Live via our Facebook page. The title of Susan Goe’s sermon is “Are You the One?,” (Isaiah 43:1-7; Luke 3:15-23a.) We will celebrate a reaffirmation of our baptisms. The Choir anthem will be “Lord, When You Came to Jordan.” Hymns for the day include: “There’s a Sweet, Sweet, Spirit,” “Baptized in Water” and “Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart.”

ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Today we will be celebrating a Reaffirmation of our Baptism. It is appropriate on the Sunday we observe the Baptism of the Lord that we each re-affirm the vows of baptism: to reject sin; to profess faith in Jesus Christ; to confess the faith of the church. This is important because it is a reminder that we are to be faithful to Christ who offered the love and redemption of God through his death and resurrection. It is also an opportunity to consider again God’s personal call to each of us.
- The Annual Officers Retreat for elders and deacons will be Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. – noon. Please let Susan Goe know if you are unable to attend.
- The Session has called for the Annual Meeting of the Congregation & Corporation of Mingus View Presbyterian Church for Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the close of the worship service. The 2024 Annual Reports are available on the round table – one per family please.
- It’s Per Capita time, once again! Per Capita funding is how Presbyterians equally and mutually share the cost of coming together to discern the Spirit’s leading for the future. This year, the amount needed for each church member in Grand Canyon Presbytery is $40.20. Our church pays the full amount for each member in January of each year. We invite you to help support the overall church budget by contributing $40.20, or whatever you can, for each member in your household. We thank you so very much for all the support you provide to the church.
- This week’s Food Pantry suggestions include: Canned tuna, cereal, canned fruit, pastas, ketchup and mustard, boxed meals like Hamburger Helper, canned corn, carrots, peas, and tomato sauces, diced tomatoes, spaghetti sauces. Of course, we appreciate any donations! Thank you!
